As long as people are not taing any steps to contain the virus is as long as testing will be necessary IMO. You only have to look at Brazil for a glimpse of a future without containment. The Brazil variant is tearing up the world right now. Without containment, the virus mutates and becomes more virulent.
Soon there will be tests for the new variants. The Brazil variant is already infecting people who overcame the original virus.
