The mining industry is one of the largest in Canada, it employs many Canadians, so to constrain or hinder mining would be to cut off revenue and good paying jobs there. I hope the Politicians up there aren't that stupid, but with people like Trudeau you never can tell.

You can't take away crucial industries in any economy and expect the country to remain solvent, especially economies that depend on so much of their natural resources and Canada does.
