HPP entrepreneurs meeting with Basha: In the last 3 years, energy has been imported at a higher price than purchased from private HPPs

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha held a meeting with the Renewable Energy Association. One of the entrepreneurs, Anita Shushku, presented some facts of great interest and the need to find solutions to the PD Program for Energy.

The complete mechanical industry in Albania was built from the beginning, which after the 90s was almost non-existent. On the other hand, this distribution throughout Albania would mean that it is an important industry in Albania which is not a monopoly and this is the real oxygen of the Albanian economy.

On the other hand, since the concession contracts required from the beginning that each concession had a single company dedicated to the name of the hydropower plant, they are the most accurate, most transparent investments. I would say that they are investments of European level. Even if you can, you can not do corruption because everything that is invested, is invested only for that hydropower plant and is very measurable.

While during the production time we have only one bill which is the bill of sale of electricity from the hydropower plant. So the industry which is more transparent, more open, more accessible and this should be and this should be the future, the real industry and the way the Albanian economy should develop in a sustainable way.

On the other hand, we have hydropower plants in Albania that are 100 years old, like Vidhkuqi, they have shown worldwide that it is the most sustainable way.

From the calculations we have done I think this is the only sustainable way to have a cheap and clean price of electricity. It is through renewable energies and hydro is the technology which has proven itself to be the most sustainable because the technology is such that it is proven which needs very little investment and is completely clean. I would say that if we as net imports only the last three years if we would have increased the capacity only us with these Mega we have produced we have saved the Albanian state in these last 3 years 231 million euros

Lulzim Basha: Once again, if Albania had not turned due to lack of vision, wrong policies, etc., to a net importer of energy and you would have been enabled to double the capacity, the opportunity to double the capacities, how much would they have saved the Albanian state?

Anita Shushku: It would be 460 million euros!
