As far as one year history: you might as well have been watching for 15 years, as that is how long Australia has been more-or-less undisputed as the best team in cricket. We suffered through Border's team, then Taylor's and Waugh's, and now Punter's.
Before that, it was a decade of West Indies dominance.
For us England supporters, there have been two moments of real joy in 25 years. One was Botham's Ashes. The other was Freddie's. All else was trauma.
I guess we should have chosen a game that requires less sunshine. But we like cucumber sandwiches and tea too much to ditch it.
