I find it hard to believe that smart person like you is forced to make such obvious points about the DEM and their decision making.

This situation with Medrecycler is unique in one important way. In the past decisions made by the DEM were considered final. The DEM is bending over backward to placate the ignorance of these protesters. The Medrecycler is safe and the DEM is taking steps to educate people on the inevitable road to approval for Nick's project.
