Yes, there are also de-icing systems which use hot water, rather than petrochemical based solutions. Some of the solutions have been based on a lot of hot air.

Finding one Swiss hot water based solution does not represent all systems.

Spraying hot water on some frozen equipment has some rather severe cracking results.

Texas government has made some interesting points, not intended to be made, during their news about the current situations. Texas generates about 24% of its electricity by wind turbines, but only during the summer. During the winter months, those same machines produce 10-11% of the electricity. So, the wind turbines are less than half as effective during winter.
