Discussion of the creation week should be a fun discussion, which ever way it goes. It's not a salvation issue.
My opinions constantly change. New knowledge updates my opinions. No Christian should ever fear any real science. God created science.
Real science looks at data and forms conclusions. Conclusions change.
Some scientific conclusions are just as foolish as some fundamentalist conclusions.

Genesis 1:
9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
Earth was created on the third day. Vegetation was created the third day. How long was that day? The sun, moon, other planets, and stars, were created the fourth day. Was the fourth day a 'Day' as we know it? How long did all the plants have to live without sunlight? How did they live?
Here is a conclusion I have about the third day - The earth was formed. The conditions were right to grow plants; there was CO2. There was needed Light, which was created on the first day. Plants had plenty of light without the sun, on the third day.
Become the kind of person that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan groans and says, "OH CRAP, HE'S AWAKE".
