Rampant Deception
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” ~ Matthew 7:21-23
The implication in this passage is not that God doesn’t know who we are; after all, He is the One that created us. Although, it does imply that a personal relationship with Him did not exist. The satanic deception that is prevalent in the world is that we can earn our way to eternal life (heaven/paradise) through our good deeds, and/or, ritualistic practices.
Jesus makes it very clear in His “Sermon on the Mount”:
“How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to eternal life, and so few even find it.” ~ Matthew 7:14
Personal relationships begin as our heart’s desire. Then they are cultivated through the sacrifice of our time, energy, resources, etc. in the hope of knowing, understanding, appeasing, and drawing nearer to the one whom has our affection. God, through Jesus Christ, took the first step to establishing the relationship. It is now up to each, and every one of us to decide in our own hearts to accept the relationship, and, diligently foster it to the point that we are as close to Him as Christ Jesus was during His time on earth as a human being.
Do you truly desire to hear from the Lord: “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:23)? I doubt that anyone wishes to hear the words: “Depart from Me…I never knew you”.
Please do not be deceived. Begin today, to draw near to the Lord, and He will draw near to you.
