Shorting a penny stock is not possible for a retail investors or is very expensive if possible.
But the naked shorting by MM’s is very prevalent especially in penny world as there is not much regulation or oversee from the SEC. MM’s don’t even report these naked shorting numbers to finra and they do naked shorting especially they know notes are due and dilution is happening. Once in a while we can see short squeezes and sometimes they are big. Look around what’s happening in the penny world for past 3-4 months and you see tons of volumes coming from no where, mm’s are getting squeezed fueled by retail buying. Even I remember Shital was talking about this and especially reporting CDEL to the proper authorities couple of years back.
