JQL-Consider this...
Assuming that locked content is available for purchase at some very reasonable price (and remember, it's just the content, the disk is already in the consumer's hands), like under 5 bucks for another of the artist's albums, the incentive for hacking or going to the trouble and potential risk largely goes away. Other than college students with too much time and no money will go to the trouble, few will go through the hassle to save a few measely dollars. This is where I think they've got it nailed. From the content owner's perspective, how much money are you willing to spend to protect a few dollars sales; I suspect they've already spent too much!
