If your "broker removed it from your account" that I believe is illegal without your consent. Mine are, and it is also 10 million shares, still entered in my account holdings to date. If you let them "remove" it, you let them take/erase the holdings. Then you can write it off supposedly, but for me, and for me only, I leave it registered in my account as the ~$8,000 invested isn't worth the write off, and that's, if you've been trading stock as long as you've been waiting for the dividend( the implication being, if you've traded this long you should be loaded lol), makes pretty good sense as the "possible gains" outweigh the write off...but to each their own....
