Spotlight: IPAK VACCINATED VS. UNVACCINATED STUDY PUBLISHED

12/6/2020

Thorough and careful analysis of 10.5 years of unvaccinated and variably vaccinated pediatric patients from a practice in Oregon has led to a peer-reviewed publication.

Importantly, the study results point to major differences in the health outcomes of vaccinated and the unvaccinated patients consistent with other independently conducted studies.

The article, entitled "Relative Incidence of Office Visits and Cumulative Rates of Billed Diagnoses Along the Axis of Vaccination" was reviewed by three anonymous reviewers selected by the journal.

"This study represents a major methodological leap forward in vaccine satety studies" says Dr. James Lyons-Weiler, who designed the study. "Our study shows how often vaccinating patients have to repeated instances of medical care for conditions suspected by many as potential caused by vaccines. Our measure, the Relative Incidence of Office Visits (RIOV), is sensitive to the severity of disease and disorder - specifically the disease burden. While teasing out causality is difficult in observational studies, our use of natural internal positive and negative control conditions - fever, which is known to be caused by vaccines, and well-baby visits, which is not caused by vaccines - provide added assurance that we are seeing a likely causal signatures".

The study includes results of a simulation that demonstrates that RIOV is more powerful than odds ratios of diagnosis. In fact, the incidence of a condition is equivalent to "one billed office visit per condition", meaning past studies will likely have missed safety signals due to the method of data analysis chosen. This study provides a measure that is more powerful, and has a larger dynamic range. RIOV is more senstivity and clearly able to pick up safety signals missed by past studies that only looked at incidence,

The study was funded by donation from the public to IPAK, The Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge.

Phase 2 of this study will focus on additional analyses such as the relative risk of disease burden due to aluminum vs. non-aluminum vaccines, live attenuated virus vs. killed virus vaccines, and, at the recommendation of one anonymous reviewer, analyses designed to measure temporal association between specific vaccines and specific health outcomes.

Our study providing an estimate of a pediatric dose limit has people talking. Acute exposure and chronic retention of aluminum in three vaccine schedules and effects of genetic and environmental variation More research coming in 2020!
The Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge is a not-for-profit organization that exists to perform scientific research in the public interest. We use the principles and practices of scientific research to help individual researchers, research teams, consortia, and companies push their project through roadblocks, or map their way around them via evidence-based alternatives. We provide independent views and intellectual effort on scientific progress in three main areas:

Helping investigators in their efforts to reduce human pain & suffering through biomedical and related forms of scientific research.
Helping investigators increase their understanding of the universe using science as a way of knowing.
Educating the public in robust and reliable advances in medicine and science.
Our activities are varied, and include:

Conducting and publishing independent and objective nonpartisan analyses, studies, and research on legislative issues that impact public health and scientific progress in light of peer-reviewed and published scientific findings.
Providing support in many forms to endeavors that advance understanding via science (publications, consortia, conferences).
Providing support to progress in science in specific critical areas that are likely to reduce human pain and suffering - and we go the extra mile to help make those successes in translation happen.
Voicing informed opinions and issues on select government agency and court rulings, and actions and positions taken by other government agencies that influence healthcare practice and affect public health.

IPAK: Bringing knowledge & people together in the pursuit of successes in research via progressive science.
