If you live in the United States you can’t short the OTC, unless you have $2.50 per share you short in reserve in your account. In other words to short 100,000 shares in your brokerage account you need $250,000, in case you get a margin call. Off shore hedge funds and Market Makers are who short these OTC stocks.
