My take on ARknet 1.8.0:
They’ve added in serious improvements to their social media take! And it works real slick; I’ve already gotten notifications on my phone from others in the ARknet community who know me, requesting to follow me (none of this “why the hell is person friend requesting me/FB crap?” After the notification, it’s a simple “confirm/follow back”. You can then chat/video with the other person, with a sense of privacy. Every profile has a unique QR code; one can quickly connect with others by sharing this via in person screen share, text, email, etc...easy connection. All chat & video is encrypted; think long & hard on this. Perfect timing on this.
They are working on the “feed”; keep in mind this is not a typical “Facebook” feed, as I’m sure they’re wanting to do something different. I started to feel “dirty” with FB, but feel none of that with ARnet’s social media. It has a little ways to go, but I’m pleasantly surprised.
The Home Screen has a very polished look. MainStreet (this search engine is damn slick; Jordan has years of experience on this). “Transport” yourself to anywhere & search for businesses in that area. This company is also lining itself up for AR/3D objects for sale (cars, clothing, furniture, art, etc...). Lining itself up with the medical field (the BU deal, while a slow-burn) is a real deal....will lead to bigger things. The OSU/Battelle research-these students & faculty are seeing this technology at just the right time. One needs to look into the future here.
What is an “Ark”? A georeferenced container of information where one can sell products, share pictures, chat/video, sell real estate, share travel memories (travelpin), share memories (memorial arks), etc.. Arks-your own personal internet floating in the space around you.
Oh, & Klkckzie: icing on the cake!! People; I know the inventor & main programmer of ARknet; they have vision that is huge, & are not giving up until they achieve. Apple & other companies can try to compete & throw more money at whateer, but this company is all about heart. Nothing can beat that.
