What? CMKX was not a "play". Ever. It was the biggest penny scam of the first decade of this century. It was set up as the successor scam to PBCM, and--for the crooks--it was an enormous success. They made $60 million. Sure, anyone who bought early in 2004 and sold at the height of the frenzy in midsummer of the same year made a nice profit. But it was still a scam.

CMKX had no value. GME at least has some. And it was certainly a better play, for those who had the sense to sell before it collapsed.

And many of the Xers learned nothing at all. They went from imagining they'd invested in a diamond mining company to believing Shorty would have to pay. When that failed, things got even crazier, with Al Hodges' $3.87 trillion lawsuit, and lashings of conspiracy theories.

Nowadays, the ones left are into QAnon, unsurprisingly.
