Covid 19 patients are not infectious after 9 or 10 days from onset of symptom and it's usually about five or six days from onset of symptoms to hospital admission. For newly admitted patients there is likely a relatively short window where anti-virals prove beneficial. I hope the trial protocol starts Brilacidin at the time of admission. Brilacidin's ability to disrupt viral entry has potential to shorten duration of infection (if given early enough) which may by itself limit the inflammatory response that is responsible for so much of the morbidity and mortality.

Even after the patient is no longer shedding virus (and not infectious) the inflammatory cascade is wreaking havoc on the lungs, heart, kidneys and brain. This is where Brilacidin, imo, has great potential to limit both acute and chronic tissue damage from the inflammatory reaction caused by Covid-19.

Brilacidin’s inhibition of IL-6, IL-1ß, TNF-a and other pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which have been identified as central drivers in the worsening prognoses of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Brilacidin’s robust antimicrobial properties might also help to fight secondary bacterial infections, which can co-present in up to 20 percent of COVID-19 patients. Collectively, these data support Brilacidin as a unique 3 in 1 combination—antiviral, immuno/anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial—COVID-19 therapeutic candidate, with pan-coronavirus treatment potential.

Also, many Covid patients have secondary infections which may be limited by Brilacidin's demonstrated anti-bacterial properties.

All in all, I really believe Brilacidin has the potential to be a wonder drug with potent anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties. The rapidly emerging Covid variants further increases the potential for broad use of Brilacidin.
