Sunday Morning...
<RANT>
So, the wife and I had a little overnight 'getaway' at a local casino last night, something we haven't done in almost a year. Tax season is upon us so we figured to have a fun night out complete w/ hot tub suite before the BS starts...
Hotel - Must have a temp check upon arrival, OK I get it no worries. Even though personally I think it is f'ing stupid - High temp doesn't always = sick, but OK. This morning after breakfast I'm headed back to the room to get my stuff and here she (lady at the front desk) comes, bum rushed me with the thermometer. I told her I already have a room and am checking out. She wouldn't let me get my things without a temp update. "I'm leaving, what if I have a temp now? Am I not allowed to get my things and check out?" She indicated that I would be put in 'Time-Out' and if the temp did not go down they would have to treat it as a 'BioHazard' situation complete with suits and a special team to retrieve my things and clean the room. WTF!?
Diner - It's OK to have salt & pepper shakers on the table but not a ketchup bottle? Apparently I am unaware of the inherent dangers lurking around every corner regarding condiments and their placement on tables. Salt & Pepper = Good, Ketchup = Bad, leads to almost certain death 100% of the time.
And then there was the lecture I recv'd about proper masking until food arrives and it was wonderful. Keep in mind my f'ing head is splitting like a cord of wood after party night and I'm not in the 'mood' to be addressed like a 5yr old. Apparently I was not the only one that needed a 'talking to' because I heard the same speech over & over again as people started filing in for breakfast - LOL.
Casino - Except for getting my ass handed to me at the machines it was fun for the most part. Funny watching security 'mad-dog' everyone ensuring proper masking compliance - Take a drink, mask down - then right back up. Take a drag off a smoke - mask down, then right back up. Every sip, every puff, mask up mask down, wax on wax off and you had damn well better get it f'ing right! OR it's RONA JAIL for you!.
Finally got our things, checked out and left...Free at last free at last...but wait, there's more stupid on the menu...Just when you thought it was safe to go out in public think again...One last little bit for good measure...
I had promised our son that we would bring him Jack in the Box for breakfast so we stopped on the way home from the casino, ordered the food and then they wouldn't accept my $10 bill because and I quote "It's too dirty" "Do you have a different bill?" "NO, it's all at the casino" As it turns out their bank inspects every single bill and the 16yr old kid at the drive thru knows for a fact that the bank wont accept it because it is dirty. Finally got it worked out, I had two $5's hiding that were clean enough to be accepted by Jack in the Box's bank and all was well with the universe again.
All this before 8am - What a wonderful life : )
p.s. Wish me luck, I have to go to the grocery store next, should be interesting.
