Etrade: Has treated me like I am a convict with time on my hands and an obvious nuisance if I call to speak to a person.
They are correct in thinking I am an idiot as I waited on phone in 3 episodes for over 2 hours each, and handed to "fake managers".
I called because a stock I owned was bought out and as one month passed ( well publicized in Pr's) I could use the 2K. They also begged me over years to go paperless yet they do not keep records for more than 7 years.
If you sell a stock and cannot validate the cost bases the IRS demands you pretend you bought the stock for nothing and pay capital gains form zero cost, even if it may have been a huge loss.
Lucky I am member of IHUB which keeps messages for eons and could trace the message from a trader who bought the stock with me at same time in 2009.
Etrade weeks ago said they would help me get my money, but is signaling to me I must be a drunken joker, not content to realize I lost my money forever, even though I followed saga of buyout bids for shareholders in all the financial news links.
Not easy to tranfere the account to my TD Ameritrade bigger account as takes weeks and traps all the stocks in cost basis hell.
They got me, but one day I will escape from them somehow.
