Mining for plastics, and metals! And batteries. People chuck everything out when it breaks and they design everything to last 10 years or less. There are literally tons of valuable elements in those heaps. Get a robot to scrounge around in there you get aluminum, lithium, gold (old electronics) stainless steel the list goes on
