Sure, they can do whatever they want...it's their ticker and their shares. If they are big enough, it would be safe to assume they would buy-back. However, retiring them allows them other options in the future. We won't know anything until Moody releases filings any day now, then we will learn everything. It's all a process that doesn't happen in one day lol
