tradinplaces,

I don't like being humiliated either.

Truthfully, though it is uncomfortable I do prefer, though often belatedly and begrudgingly, to be corrected. It is better to be corrected than continue to argue factually incorrect positions.

This reminds me of Abraham Lincoln's sage observation.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

Great advice that I have not always taken, but of course, no one has ever mistaken me for Abraham Lincoln.

As an example of learning and abandoning foolish positions, I learned (belatedly) about the manner in which information is disseminated through the DSMB to companies sponsoring trials.

I believed that data remaining blinded meant the company could not receive appropriate information to adjust trials so as to meet endpoints.

I argued vehemently and recurrently about this and I was wrong. Foolish.

This late in the process, I do not even know to whom I owe apologies, but certainly those who were right know who they are and know that I was wrong.

The truth of CD12 of trial results is currently unknown to us. Strong arguments made in both directions.

The empirical evidence is still in the bottle.

I remain, and hope others will join me, in practicing patience.
