Fun fact:
During the VLSI patent infringement trial against Intel they claimed:
VLSI also contends that Intel’s publicly-known corporate policy forbidding its employees from reading patents held by outside companies or individuals constituted willful blindness.
The court dismissed this argument.

Regardless of how it comes about, the company still has three basic options:
Ignore it (and I am still waiting for proof from you that Intel does this)
Design it out: Given the large number of pattern matching algorithms available this would be fairly easy in this case
Obtain a license: Which Intel does on a regular basis with many companies.
