FED decisions ultimately are what will affect the future of the GSEs as we all know. Please understand that the current economical disaster affecting people who actually would take out a mortgage also are part of the equation.

You have a period in history where MILLIONS of people are no longer going to qualify for mortgages that otherwise would have. FNMA will not offer high risk products just to make the loans work. Just think about it; government mandated shutdowns, business closures, and asset depletion for individuals are creating conditions that will not allow approvals for those that otherwise should qualify for mortgages. Banks are not going to lend to these people. A huge reduction in mortgage originations are to be expected over the next year.

Again, I want FNMA to be released and do well but you have to look beyond just the 'stuff' going on at the FED level. Just saying, see the larger picture too if you can.

Best of luck to all here!
