Rep. Tim Ryan says Capitol cops will lose jobs for being ‘overrun by mob’

The congressman responsible for funding the Capitol Police has insisted heads will roll over the “embarrassment” of officers being so easily “overrun” by rioters.

“It’s pretty clear there’s going to be a number of people without employment very, very soon,” Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday of police being “overrun by this mob.”

“This is an embarrassment both on behalf of the mob, and the president, and the insurrection, and the attempted coup, but also the lack of professional planning and dealing with what we knew was going to occur,” he said.

“You can bet your a– we’re going to get to the bottom of this,” said Ryan, the head of the appropriations subcommittee that funds the force in the Capitol.

Ryan said he had multiple conversations with police leaders before the riots and was assured no one would be allowed near the Capitol building, much less so easily storm inside and spark carnage, according to The Chronicle-Telegram.

He said he was furious because police should have expected trouble because President Trump had “signaled this.”

“There was enough time to prepare,” he insisted, according to the report.

He also questioned why only 52 were initially arrested despite such blatant “illegal acts,” saying, “Those people should be arrested.”
