With Noyce, Grove, and Moore they had all the bases well covered. It has been slowly downhill ever since.

It breaks my heart, alan. When I joined Intel in 1982, Andy had put out the word to hire technical MBA's. I had a technical undergraduate degree, served in the Air Force on an ICBM combat crew and had worked for an electric utility before earning my MBA.

All my work experience was in old, stodgy management structures. When I got to Intel, I thought I had died and gone to corporate heaven. I worked my a$$ off and had the time of my life doing it.

It breaks my heart. But I'm an old man now.
