A lot changes in 3 years. To short a penny now if a broker will allow it then you have to have 2.50 cash in your account for every single share you go short.

I’ve yet to have 1 single person show proof of the claim of shorts in a penny stock. Not 1 ,even after they claimed to short it themselves. The costs just aren’t worth the risk ..
