The Stages of Life
The life I live,
Played in reverse,
The plot unfolds,
From scripted verse.
The leading role,
Each actor fills,
Unknown they act,
By unseen wills.
The camera’s eye,
Absorbs each act,
Truth divides,
Fiction from fact.
So many plays,
That go unpraised,
We criticize,
Them everyday.
It’s so much easier,
To stand aside,
And dwell on faults,
The plays can’t hide.
The challenge I propose
Is clear,
To be an actor,
Free from fear.
That each of us,
Might chose today,
Supporting roles,
In other’s plays.
When courage and loyalty
Run deep,
Your drama staged
Directs the weak.
Do not deny,
The role you play,
In shaping dramas,
Day by day.
