Dr. John Campbell (UK / on YouTube) and I were saying that in late March and early April.

"THE NUANCE
Covid-19 Is Looking More and More Like an Autoimmune Disease
Autoimmunity
may explain how the virus inflicts such widespread and unpredictable damage"
--------------------------------------------
But it also can do serious lung damage if folks are zinc deficient and they get a heavy dose of the virus deep in the lungs.

The autoimmune damage is caused by a lack Vitamin D, lack of immune system regulation.

It is both Viral damage and Autoimmune damage.

Glad to hear they are waking up and writing about now.

This
--------------------------------------------
"How could the coronavirus cause a person’s immune system to mistakenly attack its own cells and tissues? Part of it may have to do with what biologists call molecular mimicry.
“There are a number of similarities between the amino acid sequences of [coronavirus] proteins and those of human proteins,” says Timothy Icenogle, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon and author of a recent paper on the autoimmunity elements of Covid-19, published in Frontiers in Immunology. These protein similarities may confuse the immune system and cause it to attack its own healthy cells; in some people, this attack may continue even after the true virus cells have been wiped out. "
---------------------------------------------
Sounds like BS to me, as they have found evidence the Virus is finding its way even to the brain, by crossing the BBB (after it gets into the blood stream), in those with leaky Blood Brain Brain Issues, leaky gut, leaky capillaries... and into the blood stream...,

But, they could be onto one more cause.

Neither matters, as many of us already know it is autoimmune and that too Little Vit D is a death sentence if one gets Covid19. Vit D being a key Up and down regulator of the Immune system. That is why MD's Rx high doses of Vit D-3 (10 to 20 times higher than FDA RDAs)for those with those Autoimmune diseases including the one I have.

This part is also somewhat BS
-------------------------------------------------
"They lay out evidence that SARS-CoV-2 may cause the body’s immune system to mistakenly attack its own cells and tissues — in the heart, in the brain, and elsewhere. "
--------------------------------------
As parts of the Immune system basically carpet bomb everything, killing friendlies with friendly fire. It creates Super Oxide Anion and just nukes everything, causing inflammation that calls in more troops (Immune system troops..) In layman's language. With out enough Vit D (or immune suppressants) the Immune system inflammation just keeps causing inflammation and never turns back off until something important breaks. Given enough time, that friend fire can cause cell mutation that leads cancer.

Not sure what took them so long, but this confirms what I was saying in April:
-----------------------------
"In October, a study in Nature Immunology examined the activity of immune cells and antibodies among people with severe Covid-19. It found some striking resemblances to autoimmune disease.
“We observed the same type of B-cell activity we see in lupus flares, and also similar antibody activity,” says Ignacio Sanz, MD, co-author of the study and director of the Lowance Center for Human Immunology at Emory University. Sanz has also examined the immune systems of people with mild or persistent (aka long-haul) Covid-19; there again, he sees overlap with autoimmune conditions. "
---------------------------------------
They are just now waking up to this.

The good news for $RVVTF shareholders, is Bucillamine is designed for and approved for the RA Rheumatoid Arthritis Autoimmune disease, with a super safe 30 year history.

Lupus, MS, Lyme disease and COVID19 long haulers could end up life time users of Bucillamine once approved by the FDA for Covid19 in the EUA trial....

-------------------------------------
"“We’re gradually coming to the realization that Covid-19 is primarily an autoimmune disease that is triggered by a virus.” "
----------------------------------------
Gradual is Right. They operate like snails and turtles. God help us if a real pandemic Bio-weapon was turned loose. These people would debating what if from their graves.

This guy is right,
---------------------------------
"Icenogle is a cardiac surgeon. “So I’m about the last doctor you’d expect to be writing a paper on Covid-19,” he says. But he spent 25 years as director of a heart transplant program, which provided him with a good understanding of immunology — something he says is uncommon for cardiologists.
During the years he was running the transplant program, Icenogle occasionally encountered cases of viral myocarditis, which before the pandemic was a rare and often deadly condition. This led him to some surprising insights.

“When we looked at the postmortem heart specimens from these myocarditis patients, it looked like they’d died of cardiac rejection,” he says. “We thought, gee whiz, how could this be? How could a virus cause you to reject your own heart like it was a transplant?”

Icenogle combed the research and found evidence that autoimmune processes — ones triggered by a virus — could be to blame. He later had success treating myocarditis with powerful transplant drugs that essentially turned off the immune system and therefore blocked the autoimmune processes from doing more damage.

Now, in the context of the pandemic, Icenogle speculates that some of these same transplant drugs may prove helpful in treating Covid-19. He mentions one in particular, rabbit antithymocyte globulin (rATG), which he has used to save the lives of some people with viral myocarditis.

Not only does rATG calm the immune system, Icenogle says, but it also helps limit blood coagulation, which is another feature of severe and deadly Covid-19.
Aspirin May Treat Severe Covid-19 Disease, and That Tells Us Something Important "

----------------------------------------------

and I read a few months ago they found out Covid19 long haul problems were stopped when a COVID19 Lung transplant patient that got Covid19 was fighting the COVID19 after math Autoimmune system response to COVID19 (caught after the Lung transplant IIRC) was given the Anti Rejection drugs and the Covid19 Cytokine storm ended and hyper Immune response to Covid19 ended. That was back in June or July IIRC. So yes, there is evidence from Lung transplant patient that the Anti rejection drugs stop the Covid19 autoimmune problem.

Thus is one of 2 reasons why RVVTF should work well on Covid19 and post Covid19 long haulers, possibly for life!!!

It was an influenza(?) virus in 2014 that turned on my RA autoimmune disease..... Which is partly why I had a head start on the Covid19 Auto-immune analysis. I lived it in 2014 and had to figure most of it out myself and the MD community I asked for help was baffled then too.

Yes decades of MD need to unlearn some of what they were taught. Not easy to teach old dogs new tricks LOL.

"Icenogle says. Some doctors have been willing to test out comparatively mild immunosuppressant drugs, and at least one of those—dexamethasone—has worked. But Icenogle says that many in medicine regard the notion of depleting the immune system of a virus-stricken patient as “at least paradoxical, if not crazy.”

"Emory University’s Sanz says he also believes that immune-suppressing drugs, including some that have not yet been tried in people with Covid-19, will prove helpful. “Without any doubt,” he say"
----------------------------------------
INDEED!!!! Like RVVTF's Bucillamine.
