(5 January) - A representative of DiddySama Laboratories, GmbH announced today that a minor chemical explosion occurred at one of its Southern California research facilities resulting in the temporary evacuation of the facility and several adjacent businesses. Hazardous material control teams were dispatched to the scene and no fatalities or serious injuries were noted. The exact cause of the explosion is under investigation but initial reports suggest that the CEO of DiddySama Laboratories was visiting the facility and accidently placed a plastic flask containing a boron trifluoride adduct with diethylether on a hot plate which had only recently been turned off after having been used to heat refluxing phenol. The shocked but uninjured CEO was sent to Los Toros restaurant for treatment with several cervezas, margaritas, and enchiladas, and was last reported to be progressing well in his recovery but unable to speak clearly or stand.
