The original purpose of the app was to connect and socialize with other users yes. But they have been in the process of revamping the app to reach out to the entire Millennial generation wether you use or not. The idea is to alow people to connect with like minded individuals in an environment that is safe for both users. They have a couple nice overviews from the lead developer describing this along with the safety features that they are impending into the app to allow for a safe interaction.
