The NASCAR stunt was absolutely brilliant. I don't think Urban Casavant really intended it as marketing, at least not principally. He just enjoyed the races himself and wanted to sponsor a car. Finally he could afford to do that without spending his own money. (Though in the end, he didn't even use CMKX money to pay the drivers he sponsored; like Trumpty, he just stiffed them once they'd served their purpose.)

But it was fabulously successful as a marketing tool. Long afterwards, Melvin the IR guy said that after every race, he got hundreds of calls from people who wanted to buy stock. Needless to say, most of them had no previous experience in the stock market.
