Mr. Berry said that unless the shares were held by a trust or an LLC the line could simply be left blank and the shareholder's signature at the bottom of the form would be enough.
My other question concerned a technical issue about the printing of the ballot. The letter "X" is used to indicate the choice of the shareholder's answer for each of the questions posed. Sometimes, there can be a printing anomaly where a given printer may shift the location of the letter X to a response not intended by the shareholder.
For example even though the choice may appear to be in the correct place when the shareholder makes his or her choice, the process by google docs may render the position of the X into a different position that is either ambiguous or completely different when the electronic version of the form gets printed out on the other end, say, at Synergy's printer. It may look as though the shareholder has chosen to abstain rather than to make some other choice.
I decided to send a hard copy of the form to Mr. Berry so he could be 100% certain where my mark was meant to be placed.
Its just one of those things than is meant to make life easier for people, but sometimes it does not work out as intended.
