During the upcoming UN CND meeting on 12/3-12/4, a vote is scheduled to take place on completely descheduling CBD with less than .2% THC
Some believe this will encourage EU member states to be more likely to vote yes on this issue
If the vote is successful, that would be a huge step towards opening up international markets and global trade of CBD
I’m personally not too optimistic that it will pass, and the reason has nothing to do with CBD
I wish they were holding a vote on descheduling Pure CBD from international control instead, as the FDA recommended it be descheduled in May 2018 and the DEA did finally remove it from the schedule earlier this year — Pure CBD would be far more likely to pass the UN CND
Instead, because the vote will be on CBD with less than .2% THC, the concerns I’ve seen expressed, including from the US side (DOJ/DEA), have to do with allowing the THC — the argument is that somehow that will provide a loophole for THC to be moved between countries — it sounds overly alarmist to me, but that’s one of the perspectives out there
I suppose somebody could ship barrels of Full spectrum CBD Oil and then the recipient could extract the THC and wind up with a substantial amount of it
But in the U.S., with hemp being grown in 48 states, it really seems pretty ridiculous, as there is a gigantic supply of Full Spectrum CBD (with .3% or less THC) already here in America
This is why getting rid of Trump’s anti-cannabis DOJ and DEA is so vital — they have been a large roadblock for the entire cannabis industry
