The claim is that KBLB waited until the very, very last moment (22 May 2020 - since 23 May was a Saturday) to file the patents...

That wasn't the claim at all

First, if they actually were going to file a patent, then they wouldn't have waited an entire 12 months to do so. They would have done it a while before the provisional patent expired. And if they had, then the patent would have already showed up in the patent database (which it hasn't).

That's not correct.

The date of filing the patent application has no bearing on when the USPTO will publish Kraig Labs patent application. It all depends on the "Priority" date. In this case, the priority is the filing date of the provisional application.

There was a discrepancy with the filing dates in the S-1 and S-1/A. In the S-1, it said the filing date was May 17th, 2019. In the S-1/a, it says the filing date is May 23rd, 2019. I assumed it was May 17th but it seems like May 23rd was the true filing date. That means the application will be published the first Thursday AFTER the 18 months from the earliest priority date (which we now know is likely to be May 23rd, 2019).

Third, even if they do file another patent at some point in the future, who cares

I definitely care
