But investors lose money in penny stocks like this all the time and these people are anonymous, so we have no idea what knowledge they have of lasers, directed energy etc.

Regarding the significance of short interest, do you sell off AERG shares when it rises 23%? If not, it's just confirmation bias to cite the 23% decrease.
