"Will Biogen Now Buy Anavex Life Sciences?"
Thanks InsiderFinancial for another insightful article on AVXL.
Since Biogen's Alzheimer drug failed in a big way they are no doubt needing another drug in their pipeline, and no other Alzheimer drug comes close to Anavex's 2-73 ability to stop and in some cases reverse the devastating effects of the disease per their first trial results that is now about 5 years since inception.
Plus the drug has recently shown to be successful for Parkinson's dementia per recently released results.
Rett Syndrome has a FDA 'Fast track' designated trial coming up, which includes a large cash voucher. They have 3 Rett trials, the first one has been completed and was a success.
Anavex does not plan to partner and take the PDD, PD, or Rett Syndrome to market themselves, thus not diluting profits. They will partner for Alzheimer because the market is extraordinarily huge.
Biogen may bid to buy Anavex, but there will be competition if it comes to that.
Personally, I would rather see Anavex partner up for Alzheimer than be bought out by Biogen or any other pharma. The long term gains of going it alone would overwhelm a quick profit on sales of the company.
