No, it doesn't make sense. Websites are for customers. Customers look for business names not ticker symbols. OTC is notrious for P&Ds and a common behavior is getting domains of the ticker symbols because they are selling stock not products. (not that we don't have plenty of P&D frauds using company names too)
The suspect merger company already has a website/domain name they don't need a ticker domain too. Its only purpose would be to point to the company website and its not doing that for some reason. If you try to go to TSLA.com it redirects you to Tesla.com. it doesn't give you a splash page.
