AAI Pioneer Award

My wife and I just got back from the 3 day Airlines Electronic Engineers Committee General Session meeting in Atlanta a few hours ago .. and just logged on and found a lot of e-mails from so many of you .... Wow... I didn't know anyone outside of the meeting knew about it.... except I called Pandaman about the award in my excitement ..... (I want to thank Pandaman for sharing this highlight of my career with you)... On a scale of 1-10... with 10 being the best experience I could have anticipated ... the whole thing hit a 1000 ! ! ! I'm so very humbled by the experience and the recognition I received from the leadership in airline avionics .. worldwide ... from the manufacturers to the senior engineers/managers from the airlines.

The Pioneer award has been presented to 7 other people in the last 40 years of the Airline Avionics Institute which works in conjunction with the Airlines Electronic Engineers Committee (AEEC) and ARINC which sets the standards for all avionics.... and key people from all the groups were involved in the award selection process. It was awarded for my leadership and raising the bar in performance for radome designs for airliners (the nose the radar looks though... allowing the radar to work better) ..... and chairing the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics committee which set the standards for civil radomes which had not been done before .... all contributing to improvements in flight safety.

Thanks again to all of you for your kind words.

Ben
