If there is a "connection," why would we have to wait for it? What possible reason would there be to keep a QDXHID connection completely silent?

No mention in any tender, in any UK government announcement, in any news article, or in any press release. That it's mentioned in some marketing/promotional material or website?

So, what is a rational basis for the assumption that QDXHID is involved in the UK deal?

Isn't the assumption that is far more likely to be correct that QDXHID is not involved?
