"What's missed in all these analyses too is that only 35 per cent of current lithium production is qualified as battery quality by tier-one battery makers, hence there's a growing shortage of battery quality supply which we aim to satisfy with our direct extraction process.

“Tesla has also stressed the importance of sustainability and traceability in its supply chain. Cobalt has led the way and the focus has now turned to lithium - Lake is one of the only companies to fit the bill.”

Lake’s announcement on October 20 of the production of 99.97% battery quality lithium carbonate with low impurities from Kachi brines has highlighted the company’s ability to generate exactly the right product for EV and battery makers.

And with the scale-up from pilot module to full production considered relatively straightforward, Lake expects significant interest from international off-takers for its clean and green lithium.
