for the investment monies apha layed out to acquire sweet water, i think it is a great broad step into the usa market.(also new products in canada)
also a positive money making avenue instantly adding to the balance sheet.
also retain control of the company
i think this is a piece of the puzzle in irwins' plan, just like the pharmacies in germany(jmho)
dorothy, you are correct with the "niche" market with craft beer...compared with a giant in the alcohol industry. i think keeping control of and the directional paths apha takes is very important to the existing leadership team. say compared with cgc with constellation running it and calling all the shots.(which that deal is okay with me, i've been in deep with cgc for 4 years -long position for me).
getting into the usa market was and is big time important for future long term success, i think this was a great first step in. i don't think irwin is done making moves involving the usa.
and as far as sweet water... right now it stands as #14 in usa craft beer,i'm wondering if it will eventually be #3, #2, #1 in usa craft beer market... it'll be a fun ride
