These terms like "propped up" and "painted" are confusing because they mean different things to different people. For example, a tiny sell into a partly populated quote that hits more than 1/2 penny lower than the actual bid is a paint in my definition, but not in yours, while a 200% larger buy from the offer of a fully populated quote is a paint for you, but not for me.
Maybe we should just stick to terms like "buy" and "sell", instead of using terms that are subjective?
At this rate, soon we'll be hearing that cats running across keyboards are responsible for all the buys.
Is there any situation where a buy would be considered a legitimate buy, or are they all a spoof of some kind?
