I think the republicans offered somewhere in the 1.8 trillion range. That isn’t exactly chump change. Definitely possible they retreat to the 500 billion or so from the original senate package.

I remember when 500 billion was considered a lot of money.

I agree though that the amounts would likely become less generous than almost 2 trillion.
