How is it determined whether a foreign issue is displayed with its Canadian ticker or OTC ticker?

AND, if the display was originally a Canadian ticker, can this be changed to the U.S. OTC ticker?

I am assuming there are a great number of individual investors here, at IHUB, who prefer to follow the stock price in Canadian dollars??

I, for one, live in the U.S.A. and I have to switch to Yahoo Finance if I am to price out security if need be.
