I was told in school the cost of loaning money is an average 3% (in most cases). Fed and State imposed regulation can add up to another 1/2%+ past interest costs. High end financiers typically have lower costs and better portfolios, and vice versa. Portfolio element dictates costs beyond the norm.
Banks and other financiers use different methods in financial reporting. Makes it kinda dangerous reading unless you understand it.
