1) they wouldn’t admit it if they had as that would be admitting that they lost on a bad trade and 2) I presume that they won’t get the margin call until the trade actually goes against them.

In the run up to the election some brokers have decreased liquidity by increasing the margin requirements in general for those trading with margin accounts.

That might be why the markets are quieter right now.
