So I've seen a few references to "unblinding" in various online posts. It's not clear to me that those who are posting know what that means. The DSMC has access to unblinded data - period - it is part of how they make their determinations regarding safety. CytoDyn, if the study is being performed correctly, does NOT have access to unblinded data. "Unblinding" does not mean revealing whether or not the treatment is working. It means revealing who is in the treatment group and who is in the control group. Public "unblinding" is not a good or desirable thing in this context. I suspect the shorts have been working hard to create some FUD around this. A double-blind study is a good thing. It helps to ensure the reliability of the results. The DSMC has access to unblinded data because that's their job. They do not "approve" drugs. They monitor the safety and design of trials. They gave their best possible response. Somehow, in the spin of shorts, that became a bad thing.
