One "could" use the dollar amount and disregard the pound in order to downplay. But at that point semantics are being argued and doesn't really matter.

Example (not a real quote):

"Innova isn't actually rewarded THAT much money. Instead of $188 million after conversion, it's only $138 Million!" Any one person can complain about anything, however small or nit picking that complaint is.

Both figures are substantial for the most part.
