I completely agree with that, it's simple economics.
When they had larger volume in the first couple of years, it made economic sense to have the truck.
You could fill the truck and deliver it multiple times within the region they sold in. And it was more economical than paying others to make those larger and more frequent deliveries.
At some point, he recognized, that the economics were working against him.
Making it available across the country, to a larger group was needed, because of declining sales. (It's in the filings.)
With smaller and less frequent shipments, it became cheaper to to farm out those shipments. The truck couldn't pay for itself any longer.
But make no mistake, anything you farm out, takes away from profit. That can't be argued. Such as having a Co-Packer or a delivery service.
Both of those changes, were in and of themselves, signaling the decline of the business. Hence, Mid Penn Bank stepped in, took over, and sold the business & Intellectual Property to a Pink CEO with a history of making money selling shares and making money THAT WAY.
Simple.

Being led around by people who tell you what you want to hear, is not only dangerous, it's not much of a trading strategy.
