You may have already heard the exciting news that Fat Shark is joining forces with Rotor Riot as a Red Cat Holdings portfolio company. Before you break out in reactions ranging from "AWESOME" to "You sellouts!" - let us explain to you why this is great for the FPV community.

First, we can not do the heavy lifting to make advanced digital products on our own. We have been working on Shark Byte for over two years and it is finally good enough to release, but nowhere near its potential. This partnership will let us inject capital and team up with other passionate FPVers like @Drew Camden and @Chad Kapper to make extraordinary systems.

So - you might be inclined to ask - why not raise venture funds or private equity money?

Greg has been building products for 12 years now and cares about the community. As we have explored ways to help accelerate the digital transformation, it has been important for him to see a way for the FPV community to be involved as well. Red Cat has publicly-traded stock and financials. That allows the community to own the future of the sport and drive accountability that is not possible with other financing options.

So - what happens next?

Honestly, only good things. We are launching Shark Byte this month to the Byte Frost Beta community and will build out digital offerings from there if everything goes as well as we expect. Over the next few months, we will work closely with the Red Cat team to expand our digital roadmap and get to work making the next generation of FPV products.

Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement as we try to keep options alive in FPV.

The Fat Shark team

PR from fatshark facebook and instagram. Wonder what this shark byte is? Also, I wonder what DJI thinks of this? Technically we just bought a competitor. Perhaps the two will partner?
